Chasing the Stigma won the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at the Digital Leaders Impact Awards 2022. They also recently won, not one but two, awards at the National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards 2022. The Liverpool-based mental health charity has won awards for its Hub of Hope app.
The world-leading company Nominet entered them for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at the Digital Leaders Impact Awards.
The Awards celebrate technological innovations that improve people’s lives and the world around us. Taking place at London’s Ministry of Sound, they awarded the latest champions of Tech for Good.
Open to any UK-operating business, government department or non-profit using digital products or services for positive social impact; the 39 finalists were chosen out of 500 nominees from across the UK.
They also took both the Suicide Prevention Services and Innovation in Digital Mental Health awards at the National Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards 2022, casually dubbed the “mental health Oscars“.
Chasing the Stigma was established in 2017, by Liverpool comedian Jake Mills; following his suicide attempt, in October 2013. During talking through his experience, he realised many people didn’t know where to turn for help with their mental health. As a result, he and his team created the Hub of Hope. The app brings together all of the mental health support available to someone in any given area.
We are extremely thankful to Nominet for entering us. It is so great that the app has been recognised for tech for good work, as that is exactly why it was created; to get people the mental health help they need as quickly as possible. We all have mental health and need to look after it, just like we do our physical health.

Hub of Hope is the only service of its kind. It brings voluntary, grassroots, private and third-sector mental health support services together in one place; including NHS, Samaritans, Mind and 3,500+ national and local registered services, the number listed grows daily. You can search for mental health support via your postcode or by concern and all the local support in your area will come up – like ordering fast food!
80,000 people have downloaded the app to access life-changing and even life-saving help. Proving particularly popular amongst men aged 25-54, often cited as being most likely to die by suicide, it was even included in the Government’s Covid-19 Mental Health & Wellbeing Recovery Action plan.
You can download Hub of Hope from the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android). You can also get it via the Chasing the Stigma or Hub of Hope websites.
